Wealth vs. Power

Money is most likely one of the top things people want to say they have. As already discussed, money can affect children with wealthy parents in many ways; as well as a marriage between wealthy people. But what do that mean about on self? Can money actually affect someone personally? Well, the answer is yes, having money gives people power, more power than they need. You see, this can become a problem when it comes too one person having too much power. According to Bell, this would be considered as "money talk (para. 1)." In this paragraph, she explains money talk as a way of comparing a complicated relationship between money and power. Money talks is another way of saying, if someone have money, then they have power and influence. If someone who has money, have power and influence, then what do that mean for people who do not have money? Well, it would mean that those people who have money, have power and influence over the people who do not have money. This would bring us back to the question, well what do that do with happiness? If you have too much power and influence, you would feel like you are better than everybody else and people are not going to want to be around people who be littles them or knock them down.

In Bell article, she describes to us that most people are driven by money. When she says driven by money, she means that in order to make a difference, you need money; see now of days, society is run by money. If you have money, then you are on top and would be considered as leaders in culture and society. So we basically can say that society is ran by people who has money. Some people would say that this is acceptable and the way it should be because if you have money, you can be seen as a role model for those who do not have as much money; however i think this is bad because what happened to being yourselves and everybody being equal? If someone has power over another person, that can cause low self-esteem for not just the poorer person, but also wealthy people because of how they would get treated or be hated on. We can see how both Bell ideas are connected because he idea about society being ran by wealthy people, would bring us back to how money talk actually do exist in the world. If money gives you power, then that would immediately put you at the top of society and most likely would be seen as the "greatest."

If people with money runs society, isn't that going against Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream? Martin Luther King Jr. said that, "He had a dream that everybody would be equal," this eventually happened thanks to the U.S. Constitution. Bell article describing how money talk can be a problem when it comes to individuals in a society; this shows us that this society is not only unequal, but it is also discriminating against people who are not as wealthy as others. The way the society is set-up, it is not giving poorer people a chance to even get up to the top, because of how highly wealthy people are praised. You can see a trend of how money is playing a negative role in happiness because power is doing more of replacing happiness than contributing.

Money play a part in happiness some how, some way...
